/This fruit salsa with cinnamon tortilla chips is my favorite healthy appetizer. It's an easy recipe that will always be a big hit at any party and has no added sugar, is gluten-free, vegan, and a healthier option than other fruit salsas and store-bought cinnamon sugar chips.
I don’t know about you but I have a serious sweet tooth and avoiding desserts is just not an option, so if you are following a Keto Diet or just trying to live a healthy lifestyle you have to have some sugar-free dessert recipes to enjoy. This fruit salsa is also a great appetizer to take to parties, it’s a healthy option for you and for sure a crowd-pleaser.
FRUIT SALSA RECIPE: INGREDIENTS & SUBSTITUTIONS
Fruit. You can really use any fruit in this recipe. I have included the fruits that are a little lower in sugar and still juicy enough to create that salsa-like consistency. Some other options you could try: nectarines, pears, pineapple, grapes (diced), mandarin oranges, etc. Just be sure to use the same total amount of fruit as the original recipe calls for and for the puree you’ll make with the raspberries you might want to keep the same.
Powdered Sugar Alternative: To keep this recipe refined-sugar-free, I used powdered Monkfruit but you can substitute coconut sugar if you want a paleo-friendly option or you can just use cane sugar if you aren’t concerned with having added sugar.
Raspberry puree. I used raspberries to make a puree, but for a short cut you could also use a no sugar added fruit preserve
Tortillas. I used almond flour tortillas but you can use regular flour tortillas or whatever tortillas you want
Grass-fed Butter. You could also brush the tortillas with melted coconut oil instead of butter
Sugar alternative for the chips. For a paleo option use date sugar, maple sugar or coconut sugar in place of the monk fruit sweetener
HOW TO MAKE FRUIT SALSA
This fruit salsa recipe is super easy to make. The most time-consuming part is dicing up all the fruit, but once that’s done all you will have to do is add 2 diced apples to a large bowl and squeeze half of a lemon over the apples and mix up, then add in the blueberries and diced strawberries
Then you will make the raspberry puree that gives it a salsa consistency. In a blender, blend together raspberries, juice of 1/2 a lemon, and 1/2 cup of Lakanto powdered sweetener
Finally, just pour the raspberry mixture over the diced up fruit and mix it all together
WHAT KIND OF CHIPS DO YOU EAT WITH FRUIT SALSA
I prefer making homemade cinnamon chips using almond flour tortillas, but you can use any type of pita or tortilla chips you prefer. I will say the cinnamon chips really add to the recipe and are really easy to make.
HOW TO MAKE CINNAMON CHIPS
Stack up the almond flour tortillas and use a pizza cutter to cut them into triangles and place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and brush them with melted butter. Then sprinkle them with cinnamon and Lakanto granulated sweetener. Bake at 400F for 7 minutes
CAN YOU FREEZE FRUIT SALSA
Yes, you can freeze fruit salsa., but I doubt you will have leftovers, but if for whatever reason you do you can put it in an air-tight, freezer-friendly container and keep frozen for up to 2 months.
HOW LONG DOES FRUIT SALSA LAST IN THE FRIDGE
This fruit salsa recipe keeps in the fridge for about 5 days! the lemon juice squeezed on the apples will help keep them from browning.
